IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN

YES THAT'S RIGHT
it's almostand by almost i mean it is 6 weeks away and i am GETTIN THE FUCK READY YEEEAHHHH
initially i was like aw man i don't have any ideas! i will probably just try to rewrite the novel i failed to properly plot out last year! which was another prequel to the rabbit effect, the one where vaughan and wat ~investigate vaughan's dad's death~ since it is all SUSPICIOUS and shit. BUT THEN I HAD AN IDEA!! it is fantasy and so awesome. okay it is not as hilarious or imaginative as the rabbit effect stuff but i miss writing fantasy 8D i got the idea from a really old shitty fanfic in my old folders lmfao i am so good
basically it's a fantasy set in a mostly japan-inspired world, with a bit of ancient china thrown in there. i'm using a lot of what i'm currently learning in my supernatural japan class (which is SO AWESOME) and other things i've picked up in various readings elsewhere. i thought it'd be fun to have a fantasy setting that isn't a bastardization of medieval europe, but of historical asia instead, and where the default language spoken by the characters isn't assumed to be english or invoke the feeling of english -- instead, obvs, it'll be invocative of japanese (even though the novel is being written in english). i'm still doing research into various types of historical clothing and political structures to add to the amalgamation that is THIS WORLD but i have a decent base to work from. it's going to be pretty much GENERIC EPIC FANTASY QUEST although i'm putting a bit of a ~spin~ on it by like...making these QUESTS ASSIGNED BY THE GODS a pretty regular/common thing, not something that happens ONLY EVERY HUNDRED/THOUSAND/MILLION YEARS but more like...once or twice a generation lmfao
i'm working out a pantheon of divine animal spirits who i am mostly too lazy to name so they're just...referred to as shit like "the great tiger" BUT THAT'S BETTER FOR WORD COUNT AMIRITE and there's some sort of...evil...miasma permeating the earth that for whatever reason the gods can't seem to GET RID OF but when it concentrates itself too much in one area, usually an area that's perceived to be neglected by the gods or worship, the gods are like OH SHI-- and send down a prophecy to the humans being all like HERE WE'LL GIVE YOU SOME MAGIC POWERS OR WEV BUT GO TAKE CARE OF THIS K

i have also spent like, the last hour or two doing research on hanfu and heian era clothing for this der derr BUT I AM SO EXCITED i like the characters so far! this will also be the first thing i've written that has an actual transgendered character in it so. EXCITEMENT. i've got a really big chunk of the main plot outlined in scrivener, although i have some...gapingly large plot holes near the beginning that i need to take care of before nano starts lmao
who wants to sit there and listen to me babble about my plot things until i figure out a solution 8D
IN UNRELATED NEWS: i had my birthday party thingy last night! at a bar downtown called anodyne which i quite like. only about half the people who said they would come actually showed up but I DIDN'T CARE I HAD A REALLY GREAT TIME 8) nick bought me a couple of drinks and i had scrumpy's cider for the first time which is DANGEROUSLY GOOD because it basically tastes exactly like apple juice. unfortunately things took a bit of a TURN when josh was like I'M GOING TO BUY YOU A DRINK YOU MUST DO THIS SHOT! and that ended up being...one too many so i didn't get to sleep till 7am and spent a good chunk of the wee hours of the morning repeatedly vomiting up bile 8D;; BUT UH. i'm okay now, i was a bit hungover today, but nick is an excellent boyfriend and took very good care of me even though i was like NO YOU NEED TO SLEEP GO BACK TO SL -- HRRRK
hahaha i should have some sort of medal for the amount of vomiting i have done in 2010
ANYWAY nick is a fabulous boyfriend and i quite like him ♥ i finally managed to quiet my poor stomach and get some sleep sometime after sunrise, and nick waited to go home until he was sure i was feeling okay 8) needless to say THAT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN ANY TIME SOON hahaha. tbh i rarely drink that much but there is just SOMETHING about it being my birthday and not paying for any of my drinks that is very compelling B| despite the fact that i spent much of the night being like OH GOD I HATE BEING SICK SOB it is far enough in hindsight to be humorous and i can think about it in good humor. i think when you get pukey as much as i do it is hard to stress about it for too long, it just stops being worth it after a while!
